PREP PTO Meeting Minutes -- April 8, 2019
Nominations for 2019-2020 PTO Board – Nominations were requested for next year’s board and there is one nominee per position. Voting will begin soon. The nominees are:

Budget Update – There is currently about $2k free in this year’s budget due to Ms Tarleton’s position ending two months early. There is also some money left in the Events budget item, but some of this could be used for the Spring Production. Ms Long is requesting a netbook cart. Last year the PTO purchased two netbook carts through donorschoose. This request would work toward our goal of having one netbook cart per classroom. Option of running a donorschoose campaign was discussed to hopefully get matching contributions. The PTO voted to approve $3k from this year’s budget to help purchase a cart of 30 netbooks.
Library Update – Elissa provided an update on the transfer of our library to the Destiny catalog system. The PTO provided $3,500 in funds for this effort. There were 5,185 books that were already in the library system that were migrated over to the new Destiny system. The dedicated volunteers have helped catalog 6,708 books to bring the total of 11,893 books that are currently in the catalog. This new system allows for a way to easily record checkouts of books and the ability to search the catalog. The volunteers have also weeded out books that are out-of-date and color coded books by category. Parent volunteers have helped at the circulation desk on Mondays and Fridays from 8-830am. Elissa is moving to New Zealand and Meaghan Joyce has agreed to continue the effort and suggested creating a Library committee. There are still more picture books that need to be catalogued as well as nonfiction books. Also, Elissa found out that the $500 license fee has historically been paid by Central office, which hopefully will continue going forward. Thank you to Elissa for all her hard work and dedication.

Events Committee – Career day is May 9 from 12:30p-2:30p. Volunteers will be set up in the gym and the students will learn about different career options. Please email Julie Eugenio if you are able to volunteer.
Green and Grounds Committee
April 9 – A group of 20 Constellation Energy volunteers will be at PREP working on planting and mulching. The plan is to get the students involved as well. They will be building a pollinator garden on the Cross Street side of the building with raised beds. The grants committee secured funding for this as well as Carrie Murray day.
April 23 – Carrie Murray will be providing the students with a 4-hour environmental presentation including live animals.
May 10 – Cleanup to prepare for Spring Fling. We will be cleaning up inside and outside the school from 8-9:30am. Please volunteer to help if you can.
Science Night (April 25 from 5-7pm). There will be free pizza with a possible chance to win prizes.
Spring Fling May 11
Lauren Stephens provided an update on Spring Fling. We need many volunteers. A sign-up link was sent via email https://www.signupgenius.co... or you can sign up in the lobby. Raffle tickets are available for purchase. There are 3 prizes (Hamilton tickets, Yeti cooler, and a Nintendo Switch). Tickets are 1 for $10 and 3 for $25. You do not need to be present to buy or win.
